In the continuity of its previous projects, Terre Citoyenne et Solidaire acts for access to drinking water in extremely disadvantaged rural areas where the only sources of water are stagnant water backwaters. The health impact for the populations is disastrous and this project provides for the construction of six drinking water boreholes equipped with a Human Motricity Pump (PMH). It also includes five renovations of the same type of structure. The challenges of the project are: – Provide quality infrastructure based on the expertise of the company, the design office and the regional water management; – Ensure the sustainability of the structures through close collaboration with the beneficiaries, state structures and two Togolese NGOs. The key elements are also the pricing of water, the formation of "Water Committee" and community awareness. In response to a direct request from the populations, the objective is therefore to improve the health of the populations by reducing waterborne diseases, the leading cause of mortality in Togo. To do this, this project plans to provide access to drinking water to 1 people and support them to ensure management autonomy and a sustainable service.
