Can Tho Education and Training Department has long been recognized as the most dynamic secondary education and training center in the Mekong Delta.
NB of the Position: an SEF is the equivalent of a rectorate in France.
It always attaches great importance to multilingual teaching, including that of the French language.
He has developed French-speaking cooperation with several French organizations (Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh, French Embassy in Hanoi) and also international organizations (including CREFAP/OIF, I'AUF, etc.).
Very anchored in the Francophonie, the SEF of Can Tho currently has several schools that have integrated French into their teaching program:
- Three primary schools participate in the Vietnamese-French bilingual program with an enrollment of 901 students
- Five colleges participate in the Vietnamese-French bilingual program with an enrollment of 511 students,
- Two high schools participating in the Vietnamese-French bilingual program with an enrollment of 205 students,
Otherwise :
- Six high schools participate in the French teaching program like LVI with an enrollment of 219 students;
- Six high schools and fifteen middle schools participate in the French teaching program as LV2 with a total number of 4.634 students.
In this perspective, the SEF of Can Tho would like to receive native volunteers in order to offer students and also teachers new effective and innovative working methods.
Description
The mission is proposed as part of the V-Francophonie program financed by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and whose implementation is entrusted to France Volontaires.
The program aims to support the projects of French embassies in favor of the Francophonie and the teaching of French through the mobilization of International Solidarity Volunteers (IVS).
The initiative is part of the continuity of the orientations of the Presidential Development Council and the CICID in favor of youth which provides for the creation of 3 positions of young experts or volunteers by 000. It is also part of supporting to the French strategy in terms of Francophonie and French teaching and in the perspective of the 2027th Francophonie Summit organized by France in 2024.
Mission
In order to improve the quality of teaching/learning of the French language among teachers and students, the SEF of Can Tho needs French-speaking volunteers who can contribute to the development of educational activities, particularly in:
- strengthening the teaching quality of French teachers in the city of Can Tho;
- strengthening the quality of learning of French students in the city of Can Tho;
- supporting the organization of extracurricular activities for students.
- strengthening communication towards the school community in order to strengthen the attractiveness of French.
Activity I:
- Organize educational meetings with French teachers in order to exchange with them and promote educational innovation;
Activity 2:
- Help teachers organize extracurricular activities for students.
- Use communication tools to strengthen the attractiveness of French
Activity 3:
- Deliver innovative French courses which could also be a resource for training Vietnamese teachers (observation practices, etc.)
Volunteers will work according to prior indications and following a defined schedule. They will have to report regularly on their work.
The volunteer will have to participate in a departure preparation session which will take place from June 10 to 13.
Training
- Diploma in FLE
- Diploma or higher education certification in literature or FLE*
- Training or significant experience in the educational field
Experience
- Experiences in teaching FLE, pedagogy, animation
Languages
- Must be able to demonstrate a very good level of French, written and oral, and the necessary conditions for teaching the French language in Vietnam (the supporting documents will be specified as appropriate);
- A good knowledge of English and/or Vietnamese would be recommended;
Required qualities
- Autonomy, taking initiative and organization;
- Good interpersonal skills, conscientious and comfortable working in a team;
- Ability to adapt and integrate, promoting interculturality and respect for customs and traditions.
- The volunteer will have qualities of autonomy and adaptation in consideration of the geographical environment in which he will find himself (small international community).
- The mission entails significant responsibilities: the volunteer must therefore be committed, available, mature and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- He could be a source of suggestions.
- He must know how to report and work in a team in order to promote the efficiency of his actions.
- He will have proven experience in the field of training trainers, associated with the teaching of foreign languages.
Other
- Good knowledge of the regional context would be a plus, as would a first professional or volunteer experience in Vietnam
