Volunteering and the Environment: when commitment is Green!

In a world where environmental issues occupy a central place, commitment to the planet has become an essential mission. The Guild, in its quest to preserve the beauty of our planet, offers a wide range of volunteer missions and forges solid partnerships with associations committed to concrete and impactful actions.

With a multidimensional approach, our Volunteering missions work around key areas intended to strengthen resource management and environmental protection, support sustainable agriculture and food security or even raise awareness in favor of the environmental cause.

For better protection of resources and the environment

Within La Guilde, we are proud to collaborate with partner associations who work tirelessly to preserve natural resources and safeguard our planet.

A flagship example of this commitment materializes through the mission of Germain Vital, as an International Solidarity Volunteer (ISV) in Indonesia, assigned to the Cœur de Forêt structure as forest diagnosis manager. Its crucial role consists of providing a current portrait of the forest situation and ecosystems in the region, identifying the pressures that threaten them, and examining national forest policies as well as the actions undertaken by public and private actors, particularly in the Nginamanu region.

Like, on the Ecuador side, our volunteer Félix NIETO coordinates participatory reforestation projects and the revitalization of fair marketing sectors within the Ishpingo association, firmly rooted in the Ecuadorian Amazon since 2002.

This initiative aims to build a model of sustainable development that raises the standard of living of indigenous populations while preserving the riches of the Amazon rainforest, thus playing a key role in the preservation of biodiversity.

In this continuum, Xavier Menguy, on a VSI mission, flew to the Albert Schweitzer Ecological Center in Madagascar, an office in which he acts as responsible for developing green and appropriate technologies. Essential in the preservation and management of our resources, the development of new, more virtuous technologies makes it possible to fundamentalize a better approach to issues linked to the resources-energy-waste nexus.

Agriculture and food security: towards more resilient farming methods

Beyond our commitment to the preservation of resources, La Guilde has forged partnerships with associations advocating resilient agricultural methods. With this in mind, Odilon Chambers works in Côte d'Ivoire, alongside our partner NITIDAE, as coordinator of agricultural and local development activities in the region. Its objective transcends borders, aiming to promote endogenous, sustainable and inclusive economic development, whether among the country's public institutions or rural populations residing around the Mont Tingui biodiversity zone.

In Cambodia, Dorian Dejace volunteered to lead the AquaCAM project, focused on strengthening public policies in favor of sustainable aquaculture. This project stands out for its use of adapted methodological tools available to the main players in the sector, particularly local farmers.

Education and awareness

The third part of our commitment reveals the essential role that some of our volunteers play in environmental awareness and education, deploying their action across the globe. In Ovejas, Colombia, our partner Filotopie gave birth to the educational project “L’École des Jeunes Pousses”, centered on agroecology and eco-citizenship within the “El Palmar” Rural School.

At the heart of this idea, developed in close collaboration with teachers, our volunteer teaches school agroecology to students, teachers, and certain parents. This initiative aims to equip students, teachers, and even some parents, with essential knowledge and skills through the establishment of a nursery, a vegetable garden, a laboratory, a kitchen and A cafetaria.

In Tunisia, the partner association Les Amis de CAPTE Tunisie, specializing in agriculture and adaptation to climate change, welcomes one of our volunteers, Edouard Jean, on a tree planting project in the North of Tunisia. . Its mission enabled the creation of the CAPTE project: a Collective of Actors for Planting and Environmental Transition.
The project supports several dozen farmers in Tunisia in their transition to agroforestry by providing technical and financial support for the planting of forest and agroforestry trees such as the carob tree: a tree of the future particularly adapted to climate change. A solidarity project between and with farmers and between the two shores of the Mediterranean which resonates with the organization's slogan: “Here we plant for the climate!” »

This non-exhaustive series of actions highlights La Guilde's resolute commitment to a greener and more sustainable future, while encouraging collective action in favor of the planet we all share.
